Can We Challenge Our Beliefs When it Comes to Each Others' Differences?

Diversity is complex topic that deserves many hours of exploration, discussion and introspection. While there are no easy answers or pat resolutions to the challenges of creating a fully inclusive workforce, Life Theatre workshops open the doors to reflection. Our two-hour program is dedicated to giving the participants an opportunity to uncover delicate issues and explore uncomfortable questions that arise when examining this topic, and to practice skills to begin to eliminate bias in their own lives. Seasoned employees are able to share their history and knowledge; newer participants are able to suggest fresh options and ideas. This dialog generates further examination and promotes meaningful, ethical decisions in the future.

Workshops will include:

  • Emphasis on recognizing and acknowledging personal bias
  • Steps to challenge assumptions
  • Insights into what motivates individuals to react in certain situations
  • Techniques to organically come to understand our differences
  • Opportunities to directly question characters about bias in a safe environment
  • Communication skills to help keep the dialog going

"Bravo! Your troupe takes a snapshot of life's sticky situations and expertly helps the audience work through the challenges presented. It is impossible to sit impassively through your programs. The characters in your vignettes go toe-to-toe with the audience and challenge us to think about how we think. I can imagine no better use of our scarce training resources."
